If you are intrigued by bonsai, this is a great unique and uncommon plant to add to your collection. Operculicarya decaryi is fairly easy to grow both indoors, as well as outdoors. It grows best in direct light/ bright-indirect light. As it originates from Southwestern Madagascar, it cannot tolerate freezing conditions.
In the summer months it likes a lot of water, especially if it is grown outdoors. If you keep it indoors, it is best to keep it on the dry side in a well draining soil. During the winter it may go dormant, so less water is required.
It is currently growing nicely in a warm area where it receives bright indirect light.
